Western Power is delivering the network infrastructure needed to achieve the State Government’s vision for WA as a world-leading renewable energy powerhouse. To support this we are upgrading multiple terminal sites to boost the northern network's transmission capacity. Site preparation work started in 2025, with construction continuing until 2027.

Northern region network upgrades
Eneabba Terminal to Eneabba Substation
Western Power is building a new 12km overhead 132kV transmission line between the soon to be upgraded terminal and existing substation in Eneabba. This project will support the ongoing power supply to the Eneabba substation and enable future line conversions to increase the transmission capacity to and from the area.
Starting at Eneabba Terminal on Rose Thomson Road, the new transmission line will travel parallel to the existing 330kV transmission line before entering the Eneabba Substation on Beros Road.
This route was selected as it uses existing infrastructure, easements and is predominantly occurring on already cleared land, minimising overall community and environmental impact, while balancing affordability and supporting ongoing important local and State Government projects that will benefit the local community.
We’re committed to keeping you informed to minimise any disruptions on you. Please register for updates on the right. Construction is expected to start in early 2026 and be completed in 2027.

Northern Terminal to Three Springs Terminal
This work involves the essential upgrade and reinforcement of existing infrastructure to increase the flow of renewable energy between Perth and the Mid-West region.
It includes:
- converting 278km of existing 132kV transmission line to 330kV, from Northern Terminal in Malaga to substations at Pinjar, Regans, Cataby, Eneabba and then Three Springs. Three existing terminal sites will be expanded to the facilitate this conversion
- converting 12km of split phase double circuit poles between Neerbup Terminal and Wanneroo Substation to a double circuit operation
- stringing 18km of the second side of an existing 132kV double circuit transmission line between Neerabup Terminal and Pinjar substation
- installation of multiple overhead line interconnectors within terminals.
Construction is expected to commence in 2025 and be completed by 2027.
