We’re building a new 5km overhead 132kV transmission line to branch off from existing network infrastructure to increase the flow of energy between Perth and the Mid West region enabling the connection of more wind and solar generation. The project is strengthening the backbone of the network for cleaner reliable and affordable energy system for all.

Project overview

What is the Northern Terminal to Henley Brook Substation project?

Starting at the connection point of the existing 132kV line on Woollcott Avenue in Brabham, the new line will travel along the eastern side of Drumpellier Drive before ending at Henley Brook Substation on Barrambie Way.

The line route and design were selected to make use of existing infrastructure, while balancing affordability and supporting other local and State Government projects that will benefit the local community.

Our contractor, Acciona will deliver these works on Western Power's behalf.

Works Notices

Acciona, on behalf of Western Power, will be starting site preparation for the new overhead 132 kV line between Northern Terminal to Henley Brook Substation.

What’s involved
We’ll prepare the route and pole locations by creating access tracks and crane pads, and clearing vegetation where needed for construction and safe operation of the line. Vegetation clearing will be limited to what’s required to carry out the work safely. Works will take place between Henley Brook Substation on Barrambie Way, along the eastern side of Drumpellier Drive, to the existing line connection point on Woollcott Avenue in Brabham.

When
Work is scheduled from Monday 22 June to Wednesday 22 July 2026, 7am -7pm, Monday to Saturday.

What to expect

• Construction machinery such as excavators, graders, compactors, water carts, and tipper trucks.
• Small crew in high-vis clothing, with vehicles entering and leaving the area.
• Dust during excavation. We’ll use water carts to minimise impacts.
• Temporary low-level lighting for short periods if needed in low-light conditions.
• Noise and vibration during work hours. Levels will remain within the Western Australian Environmental Protection (Noise) Regulations.
