Power upgrades are coming to Byford

Western Power is installing new infrastructure in the growing Byford area to provide reliable power and meet future supply needs.

This project is part of the Housing and Infrastructure Growth Program, which is a Federal and State Government initiative. The project includes the installation of new underground cabling and primary equipment to support new housing development.

Works are scheduled to start in early 2026 and finish by late 2026.

Scope of works

The project involves installing 6km of underground cable from Byford Substation on George Street to connect a new housing development at Cardup Brook, south of Orton Road in Byford.

The cable route will be located along the following roads:

• Alexander Road
• Evans Way
• Hammermill Drive
• Gordin Way
• Mead Street
• Warrington Road
• Orton Road.
